Yanders Law Basketball

Follow along as we get back to the action

As many of you know, we have been able to get back to basketball as Yanders Law activities ramp up.

Several Yanders Law Squads have finally been able to gear up in the blue, red, and white for some competitive hoops action! We are excited not only to have athletes back on the court, but also to be seeing many early successes!

With 17u all the way down to 11u and both boys and girls for each across several states, there is plenty to keep track of. We wanted to remind everyone to continue tagging or sending us direct messages across social media platforms or even by shooting us an email when something big happens.

  • To hit us up on Twitter, tag or DM us: HERE

  • To hit us up on Facebook, add us, tag, or DM us: HERE

  • To hit us up on Instagram, tag or DM us: HERE or Rob HERE

For big stuff, shoot us an email at yanderslaw@hotmail.com

The above email is also the ideal place to send any questions you may have about the Yanders Law Basketball program.

Again, we are all excited to have things back underway in any capacity. Make sure that you are following along on all of the above platforms to keep up with the action. Facebook and Instagram have some great pictures and updates and Twitter is the hub for game updates and news.

Much of our social media is handled by a non-coach, so we do not always have all of the info going up on our own. Help us out by tagging, sharing, and following along! See you on the hardwood and online!

Missing Yanders Law hoops

It is official - we badly miss Yanders Law Basketball

There is so much going on in our country at this moment, that it feels wrong to voice small complaints. Between the pandemic and civic unrest that are currently taking place, saying that we miss Yanders Law Basketball feels like a selfish perspective.

That said, it comes from a place that many of our #LawNation brothers and sisters can attest to - a place of familiarity, healing, and togetherness.

Between all the hustle and bustle of work, school, and activities, we can often lose sight of the small things. With so much of that hustle and bustle stripped away at this time, we see what it is we are missing.

We miss practices. We miss the laughter and smiles that happen in the light moments. We miss the determined looks and camaraderie that comes in the tough moments. We miss the interactions between players, coaches, and parents/guardians.

Road trips… the anticipation that comes while one game finishes and yours is set to begin.

We miss winning. We even miss losing - the lessons learned, and the resolve that follows to overcome mistakes and future obstacles. The growth of our players, not just on the court, but as people… the character-building that we witness taking place is so important. That is why we don’t mind saying we miss basketball.

The summer ahead may be a rocky one for hoops. We will be filling you in along the way as we learn details about what we will or will not be able to do. Just know that we miss you, Law Nation.

Once we suit back up in the red, blue, and white… the world better be ready.

Angels of the Hardwood recap

The second annual Angels of the Hardwood event was a success!

This year marked the second annual Angels of the Hardwood event, with the Yanders Law program giving back to the community through the sport we love so much. This year our affiliate, The Basketball Movement hosted this day of giving, serving others, and of course, basketball.

With the help of the Yanders Law players, parents, and The Basketball Movement staff, kids were treated to light basketball drills and fun activities on the court. To ease the burden Christmas can often bring to these families, they received many gifts as well.

Over 100 pairs of brand-new Nike shoes were given out to each child as well as a new Nike Elite basketball, Nike Elite socks, a North Face fleece pullover, a goody bag with healthy snacks and hygiene products, and an age/gender-appropriate present from under the Christmas three.

There were even barber chairs set up courtside, so with the help of our friends at CUT N EDGE, we were able to give nice cuts to anyone that needed one!

The smiles we saw and the lives we know were touched made all of the hard work beyond worth it. We were able to use basketball to do some good in the community and we would encourage others to do the same. This time of year is perfect for reflecting and giving back, so use whatever platform or strength you have to make some good happen!

We have said it already, but it needs to be said again - thank you to all involved in making this happen! The Yanders Law players, parents, and The Basketball Movement staff did a tremendous job supplying the presents and their time.

Thank you again as well to all of our sponsors:

We also want to thank the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Harmony House, YMCA, and multiple area public schools for getting the word out and participating in this event.

This is Robert Yanders’ favorite event of the year and he wants to personally thank everyone that was involved in helping it come together. The second annual event will not be the last! Stay tuned for more from Yanders Law and The Basketball Movement!

Angels of the Hardwood at The Basketball Movement

Yanders Law’s second annual Angels of the Hardwood event is underway at The Basketball Movement!

Our favorite day of the year, the Angels of the Hardwood event has been marked on the calendar for Yanders Law and The Basketball Movement for a long time. The event is finally starting with dozens of kids coming through the doors of The Basketball Movement facility.

Multiple Yanders Law players are in attendance, helping kids find the right size of brand new Nike shoes, getting shirts for everyone, and directing them to get professional photos taken, a new Nike Elite basketball, and even courtside haircuts courtesy of our friends at CUT N EDGE barber shop.

In their new Nike Elite socks, shoes, and shirts, they will start doing simple basketball drills soon as Yanders Law coaches and The Basketball Movement trainers take them through what they do best. The lighthearted nature of the basketball portion will be a bit less intense than we usually see around here, but the inclusion and fun make it many times sweeter during the season of giving.

The gym is currently filled with the sounds of balls bouncing and kids laughing, and we couldn’t be more excited to keep the energy going!

In addition to the gear, all athletes will receive presents, goody bags filled with healthy snacks, and North Face fleece pullovers as temperatures drop outside. It is a great day of giving, but it wouldn’t be possible without ample support.

We want to give a very special shoutout to all of our sponsors:

Representing the colors

In sports, competition is a strong driving force, but it helps to have other motivators to play for as well.

Whether you are playing for your school or one of the greatest teams around (Yanders Law Basketball for example), you are going to be wearing unique colors and logos. These things do much more than distinguish one team from the other on the court; they stand for the unity of a team, entity, or community.

Playing for your school means wearing the same colors and the same words across your chest as many that came before you. You are representing not just the athletic team, but also your school as a whole, which is something you should take great pride in.

For Yanders Law, the blue, red, and white symbolize a brotherhood and sisterhood among a diverse group of people. You don’t go to the same school as all of your teammates, you aren’t always going to be from the same city or town, and you may have very little in common. You do have at least one thing in common however: a love for the sport of basketball.

Yanders Law Basketball is not some extracurricular obligation, it is a team that you chose to join to allow your passion for basketball to flourish.

Each year that you play, you will be reunited once more with teammates you know, but you may also get to welcome new members into our exclusive club. Your brothers and sisters in Yanders Law colors are just that. We are family.

Many have worn the words “Yanders Law” on their jersey and many more will again in the future. For all of these individuals, this represents family, commitment, and passion for hoops. Wear it proudly, and remember to respect those that wear it with you; have their backs. We do not have a school backing us or any one particular community. We are built on players, parents, coaches, and FAMILY.

Wear it proudly!!
